Projection: Seeing Opportunities That don't exist

Writer: Shanyron BellShanyron Bell

As a trader, The more desperate you are the more likely you are to see opportunities that don't actually exist.

Like a man dying of thirst in the desert, seeing the mirage of an oasis on the horizon. The more desperate you are for a specific result the more intensely that you'll see opportunities that don't exist.

This is one of the reasons why when an individual shift into a more aggressive trading mode to achieve a short term goal all they end up doing is blowing their account.

Because each trade from that point on has more significance, "higher stakes" and is perceived by the individual to be more important than other trades.

Projection is trying to impose your will on the markets. This is the quickest way to bankruptcy.

Projection only tends to happen and an individual strongly desires a specific result. When this happens you stop trying to handle what you have in front of you and start trying to handle your own illusion of what you wish was the case.
